What a Commercial Double Door Actually Is

A commercial double door is two leaves hung in a single frame. That's it. The point is the clear opening: a pair gives you a wider passage than one leaf ever will, which matters at a main entrance, a vestibule, a service corridor or a retail front where people move in groups and carts roll through. WANJIA Hiseng builds these as aluminum entrance doors, so the frame is aluminum, the glass is yours to choose, and the whole unit is made to the opening you send us rather than pulled off a shelf.

Most of what you'll specify comes down to two things: how the leaves operate and what fills them. One leaf can be active with the other fixed by flush bolts, or both can be active. Glass can run full height, sit in a lite, or pair with sidelights. None of that is decided by us. It's decided by how the door gets used on a Tuesday morning.

If you're comparing suppliers, the useful move is to ask for the ratings on the label, not the brochure. The National Fenestration Rating Council is an independent, nonprofit certification body for the energy performance of windows, doors, and skylights, and its label gives you U-Factor, air leakage and other figures you can line up side by side. Ask any supplier for the certificate that names your product.

How We Build the Pair

Four decisions shape most commercial double door orders.

Made to Your Opening

Every unit is drawing-based. You send the rough opening, we build the finished pair to fit it. There's no stock list to pick from and no standard inventory sitting in a warehouse.

Active and Inactive Leaves

The active leaf carries the main lock or exit device. The inactive leaf is held top and bottom by flush bolts. Both leaves can be made active if traffic or code calls for it.

Thermal Break Frame

The K80 large entrance aluminum double casement door uses a 35.3 mm multi-cavity thermal break strip, which separates the inner and outer aluminum and cuts heat transfer through the frame.

Glass and Hardware Choices

Laminated, Low-E, tempered, frosted and mirrored glass are all available. Hardware comes from Kinlong as standard, with Hoppe, Cmech, VBH and G-U as options.

Measuring the Opening and Specifying the Pair

There are no door height or width figures on this page because we don't sell from a size chart. A commercial double door is made to the rough opening in the wall. To get a quote, measure the opening at three points, top, middle and bottom for width, and both sides and the center for height, then send the smallest figure of each. That smallest number is the one that matters, because a wall that's out of square will catch you if you measure only the widest spot. Send photos of the opening too, and tell us the wall construction.

Once the opening is fixed, the rest is a short list of choices. Single or double leaf. One active leaf or two. Glass lite or flush panel. Which lock or exit device, and whether you want a closer. Finish color and texture. We build to drawings and full customization, with a minimum order of 2 square meters, so a sample order before a bulk purchase is a normal way to start. Production usually runs 25-30 business days depending on design, materials and order volume. Packing is wooden box and wooden frame, and goods ship from Guangzhou, Foshan or Shenzhen port.

Questions buyers ask

What is the standard size of a commercial double door?

There isn't one we sell from. A commercial double door is built to the rough opening in your wall. Measure the width at three points and the height at three points, take the smallest figure of each, and send those numbers with the order. That's the size we build to.

What type of doors are used in commercial buildings?

Aluminum and glass pairs are common at main entrances, vestibules and retail fronts, because they take a wide clear opening and hold up to weather without rusting. Hollow metal and steel storefront doors show up in back-of-house and service areas. The choice usually comes down to how much glass you want and how the leaves need to operate.

What are big double doors called?

In the trade they're usually just called double doors or a pair, and the two leaves are the active leaf and the inactive leaf. If both leaves open, both are active. The inactive leaf is held by flush bolts at the top and bottom, and an astragal closes the gap between the two leaves.

How much does a commercial door cost?

We don't publish prices, and any figure you see online without your opening size attached to it is a guess. Cost depends on leaf size, glass type, hardware, finish and quantity. Send the rough opening measurements, the leaf configuration and the hardware you want, and you'll get a quote within 3 hours on average.
